About Me
In 2011, I retired after a 20+ year career in IT and project management. I earned a certificate in technical communication and started another career in technical communications: writing, editing, and website development.
I enjoy all types of handicrafts and love to play music and sing.
I currently volunteer on the Project Management Institute (PMI) Austin Chapter board and serve as Secretary and webmaster for the Classical Mandolin Society of America.
Project Management
- 10+ years experience in project management and 5 years experience managing a project management office (PMO)
- 10+ years experience in business analysis, strategic planning, and IT governance
- Managed projects in information technology, telecommunications, strategic planning, training, communications strategy, and facilities construction
- Trained as a facilitator for business and technical requirements gathering and strategic planning
Technical Communication
- Experience writing computer technical manuals and user guides, strategic and business plans, policy manuals, procedures, and project management training materials
- Edited technical documentation and procedures for an oil and gas company, compiled and edited training guides for pipeline operators, and responded to requests for qualification and proposal on behalf of a law firm and policy analysis company.
- During my career at LCRA, I wrote, compiled, and edited a variety of business and technical documentation.
Website Development
- Develop WordPress websites for individuals, small businesses, and non-profits
- Serve as webmaster for the Classical Mandolin Society of America
Education and Certification
- Bachelor of arts degree in psychology from the University of Colorado at Boulder
- Certified as a project management professional (PMP) by the Project Management Institute
- Academic certificate in technical communication (with honors) from Austin Community College
